Dr. Lloyd Southern joined Mercer University in 1989 and brings a Ph.D. degree from Georgia State University in Management, an MBA also from Georgia State, a BSIM degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in Industrial Management, and an Assoc. in Arts degree from Reinhardt College.
Dr. Southern teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in management and MIS. His primary research interests are in entrepreneurship, new venture strategy, venture capital and growth, and small business management and marketing. He has done consulting with various small businesses in retail, manufacturing, and non-profit organizations.
Dr. Southern enjoys interacting with students, helping them with job and career related problems, encouraging them to expand their future goals, and to possible consider entrepreneurial activities in their long-range plans. He has knowledge and experience in some technical areas and the building trades, which is helpful in his discussions with students about problem solving, future career opportunities, investment planning opportunities, and possible future business start-ups.
