This web page found as part of The Tech 10 web sites for the month of April depicted by The Technology Museum Of Innovation found at http://sizzle.thetech.org respectively. Burkes Place being number one on the list for April got my attention even before I opened the page. I did not know what Burkes Place was, and this further intrigued me to open it. Not to spoil your excitement of opening the page, you must open it and see for yourself.
Burkes Place is part of Discovery On-line Connection that has several web pages being in the areas of History, Technology, Nature, Exploration, Science, and Live all part of The Discovery Channel as shown on television. Story Teller James Burke weaves a web of mystery weekly and awaits response from his readers and viewers of inventions and events as he pricks their minds to reply.
As you open the page the eyes of James Burke get your immediate attention and just by looking at the detail of the graphics and stare of his eyes starts your thinking process. Further as you progress down the page you will see slight lines and circle type objects drawn in the background. These objects are not clearly visible and distinctly drawn that way for a purpose. These lines and circles further expand the process of your thinking when you visit this page. The drawings resemble a map of stopping points connected together. The lines depict ones thought process of coming to a collusion and moving on to the next point or question by way of the lines to another stopping point or conclusion.
In the middle of the page James Burke is standing next to the answer for the last question asked for that month. Aprils question was guessing the connection between Smallpox and Alaska Purchase. It seems as a weird combination and startles your thinking. There is a connection between the two. Last but not least for this wonderful page, you can view all of the answers contributed to the site for possible right answers to Burkes question. It is fun to view other's thoughts as written and this again starts the powerful process of thinking in your own mind as well. The developers of this Web Page get an "A" in my book for the outstanding content of the site. It is truly amazing.
