Dr. Vijaya Subrahmanyam is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Stetson School of Business and Economics, Mercer University since Fall 2003. Prior to that she was a tenured Associate Professor at Clark Atlanta University (CAU). She obtained her doctoral degree in finance from Southern Illinois University in 1993 and also holds a Masters degree in Economics.
Dr. Subrahmanyam research interests are in the areas of corporate governance, corporate finance and banking. Her current research interest includes issues related to impact of corporate governance changes on corporate performance, financial fraud, the changing role of committees on boards and multinational boards.
Dr. Subrahmanyam has published in several premier finance journals and teaches Corporate Finance and Capital Markets and Institutions and Money and Banking to undergraduate and graduate students. She effectively blends her teaching with her research interests and experiences in consulting. For her teaching, Dr. Subrahmanyam received the Distinguished Faculty of the Year Award in 2005-2006 at Mercer and has won several teaching awards at Clark Atlanta University prior to that. Besides Mercer and CAU, she has done executive education at the University of West Indies, Jamaica and executive training for the SBA via Clark Atlanta University. She additionally serves as a Director to the League of Women Voters at Fulton County. |
